You must be 21 to win, live in the US & in a state that allows alcohol shipments. ⁣ ⁣ —⁣ ⁣ Here’s the low down on my fave CF from Paso!⁣ ⁣ @breconestate produces fantastic premium, small-batch wines on the west side of Paso Robles. Their vineyards are planted to mostly limestone soils in the Adelaida district & Brecon claims the oldest #cabernetfranc vines here (planted in the 80’s). ⁣ ⁣ Thanks to Brecon for this mini vertical – 2016 was a pretty spectacular vintage in Paso. A warm spring jump started the growing season. A few warm spells in summer & a cool, moderate August leading into harvest. Fruit ripened under slow & steady conditions – perfect for inky, complex wines. ⁣ ⁣ Brecon’s 2016 CF was exquisite. Intense aromatics of strawberry, raspberry, crushed gravel, & subtle notes of bell pepper/chili pepper. Medium+ body & mouthwatering acidity, fine-grained tannins. A CF you just can’t stop sipping with a rich complexity that can only come from those old vines.⁣ ⁣ 2017 was a weird year in Paso vineyards. A mild & wet spring, followed by unusually warm & humid weather. Warm weather during the growing season then drought-breaking rains. A heat spike in August pushed up many pick dates – some vintners faced heat damage & reduced crop sizes. ⁣ ⁣ Brecon’s 2017 CF was still wholly delicious. Compared to 2016’s ripe fruit notes, the 2017 showed more savory aromas with subtler fruit notes & nuances of bell pepper. A leaner style & quite elegant on the palate.
